'United can still win title' says Van Gaal
Reds manager confident following Anfield win.
Louis Van Gaal claims United are still in the title race following their one nil win over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday. A late Wayne Rooney strike was enough to hand United victory in a game that saw the visitors struggle to create many chances.
It was a double celebration for United’s skipper as Rooney’s goal now means he scored more Premier League goals for one club than any other player, as his tally of 176 saw him overtake Thierry Henry’s record of 175 for Arsenal.
United’s win puts the Reds seven points behind league leaders Arsenal and Van Gaal remains confident his side are still in the hunt for the title.
“It is seven points and seven points you can oversee that, a lot of matches still to go and we started 2016 very good.”
United’s next game is at home to Southampton on the 23rd January.
