Five victories in five competitive matches – three in the Premier League and the other two in the Champions League playoff versus Steaua Bucharest. Manchester City’s start of the season certainly can be described as impressive.

Comfortably settled on the top of the table, the Blues have confirmed the huge expectations created after the arrival of Pep Guardiola to the Etihad Stadium, but they are far from being satisfied.

At least, that’s what can be understood from David Silva’s declarations after City’s last triumph over West Ham United by 3-1.

“The team is improving every game and we're showing that on the pitch.

“We created a lot of goal scoring opportunities and we hope to keep improving,” said the 30-year-old Spain international.

Silva has been a key player for new manager Guardiola. The midfielder has played in four of the five victories achieved for his team, always being part of the starting XI.

Speaking about the style developed by City during the firsts matches, the midfielder avoided any direct comparison with others Guardiola’s previous teams like Barcelona or Bayern Munich.

“We have our own style.

”We have good players who like to have the ball, and we also have fast players so we can play on the counter. I think we're improving every day and that's good for the team,'' he said.

This is Silva’s seventh season at the club, which makes him one of the most familiar faces of the team.

The Spanish international wore the captain’s armband during the inaugural game of the season versus Sunderland, reflecting his ascendance over the squad.

Also, Silva seems to have the trust of the new Spain manager Julen Lopetegui, who has included him on a list alongside his teammate Nolito.
