Rugby league Super League club Salford have been charged with alleged breaches of salary cap rules.

The Rugby Football League could deduct as many as 20 points if the Red Devils are found to have exceeded the wage ceiling of around 1-point-8-5-million-pounds in the last two years.

Salford were beaten 31-30 by Warrington last night.

A statement from the governing body said: “The RFL has issued charges in relation to alleged breaches of the RFL Operational Rules and Salary Cap Regulations concerning contractual arrangements made with Salford players in 2014 and 2015.”
