New job as Reading manager for Stam
Former Manchester United and Netherlands defender Jaap Stam is to become the new manager of Reading.
In Stam’s three seasons with United, the team won three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, the Intercontinental Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
He scored only goal for United in an away match at Leicester City, which the Reds won 6-2.
He was then sold to Lazio in the 2001–02 season but then returned to the old Trafford as a scout in 2008.
The former player will now enter into his first senior manager position, taking over from Brian McDermott.
Stam has just received his UEFA Pro Licence, and is a free agent after leaving Ajax where he was in charge of their U21 and academy teams.
He reportedly agreed to a two year deal with Reading on Tuesday.
