Klitschko rematch on home turf for Fury

Manchester’s own Tyson Fury will face Wladimir Klitschko for the undisputed World Heavyweight Championship in his home town on October 29 at the Manchester Arena.

This comes after the 28-year-old won their first bout in Dusseldorf on a unanimous points decision on November 28 last year. Marking the end of Klitschko’s 11-year undefeated streak, Fury took the WBO, WBA and IBF belts from the Ukrainian who had held the belts since 2006.

Fury, who is 25-0 with 18 knock out victories, agreed his next fight would be a rematch against Klitschko meaning he was stripped of the IBF belt as he failed to face their mandatory challenger, Klitschko’s fellow Ukrainian Vyacheslav Glazkov.

An original date for the rematch was scheduled for July 9 however the champion pulled out due to an ankle injury.

During the press conference for the original rematch this April, the champion was seen to be seriously out of shape when showing off his physique, mocking Klitschko, whose record is 64-4 with 52 knock out victories, saying “you lost to a fat man.”

The Wythenshawe born boxing star also was seen partying and spending €1000 on a round of Jägerbombs for his fellow England fans in Nice during the Euros in France earlier this year.

Despite the hype and skill of Fury he says: “I don’t care about boxing, its mainly about getting a few quid and putting the food on the table, that’s it.”

Klitschko is ready for the rematch and says he is going to “remedy his mistake” and will win the bout next month.
