Guardiola leaves United and City fans guessing
Bayern boss says it may be two years before he manages in England.
Pep Guardiola has suggested that it could be two years before he moves to England amidst heavy speculation linking him with a move to City or United.
The in demand Bayern coach revealed earlier this month that he had ‘some offers’ from clubs in England and that he will step down from his role with the German club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Having refused to disclose his preferred destination, speculation has fuelled as to whether he’s set to replace Manuel Pellegrini or Louis van Gaal.
Guardiola apologised earlier this week for putting pressure on current Premier League managers after he was accused of lacking "etiquette" by former England striker Alan Shearer.
The Bayern boss said sorry for comments he’d made about wanting to manager in England and the fact many, including Shearer, saw that as adding pressure on current Premier League managers.
But in an apparent twist of proceedings, the two-time Champions League winning coach conceded that he may not be guaranteed a move to England this summer.
"When I sign a contract I will announce it immediately," said the former Barcelona boss.
"Maybe it will be two years until I will coach a team in England. I am very happy about my experience in Munich. I am working until my last second here. After that I will go home and wait to see if it is possible to move to England or not. If it's not, then I won't."
Guardiola had previously took a year's break from football before moving to the Bavarian capital after a trophy laden four year spell which included three Spanish League titles and two European Cups.
Bundesliga leaders Bayern, have already confirmed Carlo Ancelotti will succeed Guardiola in the summer, they return from the winter break to face Hamburg on Friday 22nd January.
