England fans praise Gareth Southgate's compassion after new photo emerges

As a nation we know all too well the pain of losing on penalties, but on Tuesday night, England made history when they beat Colombia in a tense match, winning the game on penalties for the first time ever at a World Cup, led by manager Gareth Southgate.
The nervous shoot-out would have brought back bad memories for former England player Southgate, who famously missed a penalty at the 1996 Euros, which resulted in us going out of the competition to our rivals Germany.
But showing the true gentleman that he is, instead of going wild along with the rest of the country when Eric Dier slotted home the winner, Gareth spent time to console the heartbroken Colombia players, showing the grand old English trait of being gracious in victory and magnanimous in defeat.

Meanwhile, football fever is sweeping the nation as Harry Kane and co prepare for their massive Quarter Final match against Sweden on Saturday.
Despite conceding an equaliser in the 93rd minute against Colombia, the boys showed true grit and spirit to make it into the last eight, with a heroic save by Jordan Pickford and goals from the spot by Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Kieran Trippier and Eric Dier.
If they are successful in beating Sweden on Saturday, England's next game would be the Semi Final against either Russia or Croatia on Wednesday 11th July.
