Yaya Toure and David Silva expected to return to the first team against Everton on Wednesday after missing this weekend’s FA Cup clash with Norwich.

City proved themselves a class above at Carrow Road as goals from Sergio Aguero, Kelechi Iheanacho and Kevin De Bruyne sealed the visitors' passage into the fourth round.

Pellegrini made seven changes to his starting line-up, in what looked like a ploy to rest players, but the Chilean later revealed it was injuries that forced

his hand. City can ill-afford to lose any more key names, with captain Vincent Kompany, Eliaquim Mangala and Samir Nasri all on the sidelines, while Aguero has onlyrecently returned from a heel problem.

Pellegrini hopes, however, Silva and Toure will both be back against Everton, along with Fernandinho, who was also unavailable.

“We couldn't play with Mangala, Kompany, Fernandinho, Yaya, Silva and Nasri because of injury,'' Pellegrini said.

“But I hope at least Yaya, Fernandinho and Silva will be back on Wednesday.''

The win at Norwich was only City's second victory in eight away matches and Pellegrini was pleased to answer the criticism about his team's form on the road. “Maybe we had a lot of criticism in the last week because we were not winning away but I am always very happy with the way we play away.” Pellegrini said.
