The 'World's oldest derby match' returns tonight after 13 years in South Yorkshire.

Sheffield FC - who formed in 1857 & are recognised as the world's first football club - travel to the oldest football ground in history - Sandygate - to take on Hallam FC later.

The two clubs will meet in the quarter-final of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup.

This historic fixture is all set to go ahead tonight after it had to be postponed last week due to the snow in South Yorkshire.

Almost 1,500 fans are expected to be inside Sandygate for the first competitive meeting between Hallam FC & Sheffield FC for 13 years.

Richard Pillinger is the Chairman of Hallam FC - He says football supporters from all over the world have made plans to attend the match:

"We've had calls from a lot of Dutch people, Belgians, French people and plenty of other Europeans.

"I think we had a call from somebody from America as well who wanted to come along.

"It really just highlights what we've got in this city; we've got the oldest ground and the oldest club in the city.

"It's just unique for the heritage of football in Sheffield; it's fabulous.

"Who would've thought all of those years ago when we were playing here in 1860 that football would be what it is today?

"We knew we'd sell out all the tickets - we could've probably sold it out twice over, and the demand would've been even greater if this fixture had been on a Saturday."

Kick off at Sandygate - which hosted its first football match back in 1860 - is due to get underway from 7.45pm tonight.
