Fire crews from Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire have been involved in tackling flames at an industrial site in Worksop.

A large plume of smoke was seen over the town earlier today, with firefighters fire being called at around 2pm to Tranker Lane.

Containers and cylinders were among objects alight, meaning some loud bangs were heard earlier.

Nottinghamshire Fire Group Manager Tom Staples said: "We would like to reassure the public that we are working hard on scene to get this fire under control.

"The fire contains cylinders and containers, therefore is giving off a lot of smoke and occasionally a loud bang. I would like to confirm that this isn't an explosion, as is being speculated on social media.

"Please avoid the area where possible and if you're local, keep your doors and windows closed."
