Josh Windass and Michael Smith latest to leave Sheffield Wednesday amid pay dispute

Midfielder Josh Windass is leaving Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer following a pay dispute.
He requested to end his contract early after the Championship club failed to pay their senior players for the third time in four months in June.
Striker Michael Smith has also cancelled his deal at Hillsborough.
Smith made 127 appearances for the Owls, scoring 33 times, since joining in June 2022.
Windass appeared 182 times finding the net 53 times. He initially joined Wednesday on loan in January 2020.
Rangers have completed the signing of Wednesday winger Djeidi Gassama earlier this week, providing some much needed funding for the cash strapped club.
It comes as its emerged the North Stand at Sheffield Wednesday could be closed to fans for the start of next season for safety reasons.
