Murder investigation launched after body pulled from Tinsley Canal in Sheffield
A 35 year old man has been arrested
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a 39 year old was pulled from a canal in Sheffield.
The man was discovered in the water close to Staniforth Road after 7pm on Tuesday (June 10).
Yesterday a 35 year old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody.
Witnesses, or anyone who was on the canal towpath between Shirland Lane and Staniforth Road between 5pm and 7.15pm on Tuesday is being urged to come forward to police.
South Yorkshire Police has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct as it's believed officers had contact with the victim before his death.
It's alleged he turned up a police enquiry desk the same evening to ask about property.
