A 19-year-old who led police on an 110mph chase through Doncaster before crashing into a traffic light has been sentenced.

Lee Cherowbrier stole a Lexus, reaching speeds of 70mph in a 30mph zone, after officers received reports of his actions.

They chased him down, and a passenger in the car began flinging objects at them, in the early hours of February 06.

Cherowbrier tried to ram a police vehicle in Stainforth before the passenger escaped, and the 19-year-old then drove off towards Broadway.

He was arrested after crashing into a traffic light, with officers telling him he "could have killed someone".

In a court appearance, Cherowbrier pled guilty to a number of offences, including burglary and dangerous driving.

He was sentenced to 21 months in a Young Offenders' Institution and disqualified from holding a driving licence for 48 months.
