Those who're buying a new property in South Yorkshire & North Derbyshire - tell us they're 'racing against the clock' - ahead of stamp duty changes - which are due to come into force next month.

From April 1st - the tax is being brought in at a lower threshold - meaning some buyers could face a higher bill overall.

Jane lives in Chesterfield - she's moving to a different property in Dronfield next week & says she wouldn't have been able to afford the extra stamp duty fees:

"The elation of the contracts getting exchanged last Friday was unbelievable.

"The stress of these looming stamp duty changes in April has heightened the anxiety of this house move.

"I don't think I would've been able to afford the house I'm going into with this extra stamp duty bill, so there was so much hanging on the hope that we could get everything done before.

"It would've cost thousands of pounds more - so it's been sheer happiness to get everything completed in time."

74,000 buyers in the UK are expected to miss the 31 March cut off - at a collective cost of £142 million.
