MP Louise Haigh has today called on the government to ban the use of NDA's in the work place following a string of victims being silenced after abuse, discrimination and harassment in the workplace.

The MP for Sheffield Heeley first brought this issue to parliaments attention last month in the employment rights bill, where she used parliamentary privilege to talk about an NDA signed between a former journalist and the ITN news organisation.

Parliamentary privilege allows MPs to be granted immunity from civil or criminal action when speaking on a topic in parliament.

Louise told the South Yorkshire news team that the privilege she had does not apply to the normal person who signs one of these agreements, and means victims are not getting the help they need.

"These NDA's are being used on a massive scale to silence victims and effects low income workers in hospitality and retail the most..."

"I've heard harrowing accounts of victims that have been sexually assaulted in the work place and then have been required to sign these agreements that have stopped them from talking to anyone about it..."

"It has an absolute appalling impact on victims and stops organisations from owning up to the wrong doing that's happening in their work place."

Louise wants a full ban on all NDA's in any form of work place abuse, harassment and discrimination.
