The former record cap holder for England Women's rugby league team - who lives in South Yorkshire - is receiving an MBE for her services to the sport.

Andrea Dobson currently works at the Sheffield Eagles Foundation - with the aim of encouraging more young women to play rugby league.

She says the role fills her with pride:

"I've got a job that I love, in a sport that I love, and I just want to inspire the next generation.

"It's all easy for me because I love doing what I'm doing, but to get the recognition on the back of it is really special and I'm really proud.

"The first emotion I felt when finding out was a sense of shock and surprise really.

"It's just something that's never crossed my mind that I'd ever even be considered for, but I'm truly made up by it."

Dobson retired from playing back in 2019.
