Murder investigation launched following death of Rotherham woman

Police in South Yorkshire have launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman in Rotherham.

Officers first received reports on an incident taking place at a property on Herringthorpe Road just before 5:55p.m. on Friday (June 21st).

When responders arrived at the scene, they found a woman inside the property requiring immediate medical attention.

She was given emergency medical treatment on location, but despite their best efforts, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations were launched following the incident, and a 56-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The suspect currently remains in police custody following the attack and the man is being questioned by officers.

As well as this, road closures are in effect at the scene on Herringthorpe Road as enquiries are ongoing.

South Yorkshire Police have now launched an appeal following the incident and is asking those with information to get in touch as soon as possible.

Anyone who may have any relevant information or have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area at the time of the attack is being urged to come forward.
