Man arrested after 20 homes evacuated in suspected gas leak in Rotherham
Police were called to Gerard Road last night
A man has been arrested after more than a dozen homes had to be evacuated in Rotherham last night, following a suspected gas leak.
Police were called to Gerard Road to concerns for someone's safety at 8:28pm.#
A cordon was put in place, with people inside a total of 20 properties told to leave for their own safety.
The area was then made safe by the fire service.
A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and arson endangering life.
He remains in police custody.
