There are fresh calls today for 'action to be taken' - to protect vulnerable children in South Yorkshire & North Derbyshire from parents with a history of domestic abuse.

A new report released this week by Women's Aid shows 19 children have died after 'unsafe contact' with parents over the last 10 years.

Penistone woman Claire Throssell lost her 2 sons in 2014 - after the boys' dad started a house fire during an 'unsupervised' visit:

"When are they going to realise that family courts are not fit for purpose?

"When are they going to realise that one life is far too many?

"When will the changes to the legislation be finally introduced?

"How many more children need to die before they make the decision to take presumption of contact out of law?

"It's not for strangers to presume that it's in the child's best interests to see both parents.

"This culture of contact at any cost is still prevalent 10 years after Jack & Paul's deaths.

"If these children aren't being murdered, then at the very least they're being emotionally or physically harmed.

"They'll then carry that all through their lives.

"These are actual children - not Child A or Child B on a piece of paper.

"These are children's lives, and everybody keeps talking about the lessons, but no lessons have been learnt."

Claire's been campaigning to get the law changed ever since - her sons - Jack & Paul - were 12 & 9 years old when they died.

Their dad - Darren Sykes - also died in the blaze.
