Man due in court after gun fired in Sheffield

A mans been charged in connection with an incident where a gun was fired in the Batemoor area of Sheffield.

Armed response officers were called out on Monday night to White Thorn View - after reports of an altercation been a group of men and a woman who suffered a suspected stab wound

Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening and no one else was injured.

A 39 year old man accused of a number of offences including possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said:

"A man has been charged following a firearms discharge in Sheffield.

"Officers have charged a 39-year-old man after a gun was discharged in the Batemoor area of the city.

"We were called on Monday (13 May) at 11.20pm to reports of a firearms discharge on White Thorn View.

"Officers, including our armed response officers and the National Police Air Service, attended the scene and it is reported that an altercation took place between a group of a men and a 41-year-old woman, where the woman suffered a suspected stab wound.

"The firearms discharge is believed to have occurred after this altercation. Fortunately, the woman’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-altering, and no-one was injured by the discharge. She remains in hospital at this time.

"Daniel Waterfall, of no fixed abode, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of an offensive weapon and wounding with intent. He was charged and remanded and is due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court today (Friday 17 May)."
