Iconic Sheffield music venue - the Leadmill - has confirmed this evening that a judge has effectively ruled against the venue in its ongoing legal dispute with the landlord of the building.

The tenants of The Leadmill - in Sheffield - have been locked in a battle with the venue's owner, Electric Group, since they were served with an eviction notice in March 2022.

A spokesperson for the Electric Group said:

“We welcome the court’s consideration and careful decision to award a possession order for the Leadmill; an important ruling following difficult legal proceedings.

“The successful legal outcome paves the way for a bright future for this venue, ensuring it will receive the substantial investment it needs to thrive. It will continue to be a cornerstone of the live music scene in Sheffield, supporting artists, fans, and community projects for the next 100 years.”

At this point, no clear timeline on the next steps have been unveiled.

Since it opened 45 years ago in 1980, the venue has hosted performances from acts including Coldplay, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys and The Stone Roses.
