Local businesses say it will be 'life changing' to get business back 'booming' around Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

It's after cash was guaranteed for the site yesterday - with 160 million pounds earmarked.

Local leaders voted on the issue yesterday - including South Yorkshire's Mayor - Oliver Coppard.

Craig Dowie is from The Crown Hotel in Bawtry where staff from airlines used to stay:

"We had all the TUI business and the cabin crews and the pilots before.

"Everything was on their doorstep here in Bawtry - members of staff from the airlines loved staying here.

"We bought this hotel when the airport was opening initially - that was the main plan of our business.

"Our main business strategy was aviation.

"It just needs the absolute honesty of the operators working hand-in-hand with the whole supply chain.

"It's not just the airlines for tourism - it's everything else commercially impacted.

"Think about the training, the maintenance of the whole sight, the cargo, the freight, and the handlers."

Flights stopped there in 2022 when landowner and operator at the time - the Peel Group -decided it was no longer financially viable.
