Doncaster man jailed for stealing thousands of pounds worth of tools
He targeted a van and a shop last year
A Doncaster man has been jailed for almost four years for stealing thousands of pounds worth of power tools.
28 year old Michael Stewart, of Armthorpe Road, was handed a three year ten month sentence at Sheffield Crown Court, after being found guilty of robbery and burglary at trial.
He targeted business on High Street on May 20 last year, taking tools worth around £2,700.
Three days later he stole items worth £1,000 from a van on Flint Road.
Alongside his jail sentence he has ben banned from driving for two years and 11 months.
Detective Constable Josh Heath, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “Stewart was brazen in his offences, committing these thefts in full view of CCTV.
“He targeted both a private business and a member of the public, stealing high value items with no regard for the consequences of his victims.
“Due to the diligent work of Doncaster Fortify officers, he was soon identified, and although he denied the offences, the undeniable evidence meant he was found guilty.
“I am glad that he will spend time behind bars for his selfish actions, and hope that his sentence is a lesson to other would-be burglars that crime does not pay.”
