Dale Tonge returns to Rotherham United as assistant manager
Tonge made over 160 appearances for the Millers during his playing career
Rotherham United have secured the return of former Miller Dale Tonge, who is to become the new assistant manager at the New York.
The 40 year old is departing Peterborough United where he has been serving as first team coach.
He's been headhunted to serve under boss Matt Hamshaw, and joins Richard Wood as first team coach and Ross Burbeary as the new head of performance.
Tonge made over 160 appearances as a right back for Rotherham United between 2007 and 2013.
He also played for Barnsley, Torquay, Stockport and FC United of Manchester before his retirement in 2017.
Speaking to the Millers website, Tonge said: “It’s an exciting time to be a part of the club, especially as it looks to move forward."
“The gaffer is new onto his role but has fresh eyes and ears on a style of play that the fans are going to enjoy.
“Already having a strong relationship with the backroom staff was a big attraction and their passionate affiliations to the club is clear for everyone to see. That is a big asset to Rotherham United."
Andy Warrington, who had been serving as assistant boss, will return to his job as goalkeeping coach.
