Crews on scene of tyre fire in Staveley

Emergency services are at a fire in Staveley which started last night.

Crews are at the scene on Milton Place - with tyres burning.

People living in the area are being told to keep doors and windows shut.

A Derbyshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said:

"Firefighters remain on scene of a large fire on Milton Place in Staveley which started yesterday evening.

"Crews from Staveley, Chesterfield and Nottingham Road, supported by an aerial ladder platform (ALP) are currently in attendance and are continuing to extinguish the fire.

"Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service is working alongside partners on site, including the Environment Agency, and is expected to remain there for the rest of the day.

"Fire crews were originally called to the incident at 19.56 hours on Sunday 22 September.

"Upon arrival, they discovered a pile of tyres well alight.

"Residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed in the local area whilst crews tackle the fire."
