Conor Hourihane announces retirement from playing to become Barnsley assistant head coach

The ex Republic of Ireland international impressed at several clubs.

Conor Hourihane has retired from playing and become Barnsley's assistant head coach.

Hourihane made his return to Oakwell in the summer as a player-coach, but will now focus on the coaching role having not played since August.

The 33-year-old who also previously played for Sheffield United has been concentrating more on coaching.

He made the announcement via social media yesterday.
