Major US leisure firm unveils plans for Bolsolver water park
Great Wolf Resorts want to build a water park, hotel and conference centre
A major US leisure company has unveiled plans to build a new indoor water park in Bolsover.
Representatives from the District Council has met with operator Great Wolf Resorts, who have talked through their ideas for a site near the A619/Gapsick Lane junction on the outskirts of Clowne.
The resort could include a 500 bed hotel, along with the water park, conference facilities and other leisure facilities like a bowling alley and mini golf.
Great Wolf currently runs over 20 resorts across the US and Canada, with plans to build another resort in Oxfordshire.
Council Leader, Councillor Jane Yates said, “This is an exciting project that will certainly put us on the map."
"One of our key priorities is growth with the creation of jobs and this proposal not only meets this but will provide us with leisure opportunities that will be fit for 21st century living.
“The meeting was an important first step in the development process that allowed councillors the opportunity to ask questions and I would urge people to attend the exhibition and public consultation and have their say on what is a very exciting proposal.”
A consultation event, allowing locals to have their say, will be held at Clowne Town Cricket Club from 3.30-8pm on May 20.
