Police launch murder investigation following man's death in Rhydyfelin

Three people have been arrested following the death of a man in Rhydyfelin.

Just before 00:40am this morning, South Wales Police received a report of a disturbance on Poets Close, Rhydyfelin.

Three men in their 20s had sustained injuries and were taken to hospital.

Police say one of the men has since died, while the other two remain in hospital.

A 30-year-old man from Rhydyfelin has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder in connection to the incident.

A 22-year-old man from Tonteg has also been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Additionally, a 20-year-old woman from Penygraig has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent.

All three remain in police custody.

Detective Superintendent Paul Raikes said: “I want to assure the community that we are working at pace to investigate this matter.

"Residents may notice an increased police presence in the area, and a cordon has been established on Masefield Way, specifically between the junctions of Poets Close and Shakespeare Rise."
