The Welsh Government has announced additional financial support for businesses in Monmouthshire impacted by Storm Claudia.

Grants of up to £3,000 will now be available to help businesses recover and rebuild after the recent flooding.

The funding will be distributed by Monmouthshire County Council and follows the more than £2.5 million already allocated by the Welsh Government in response to the severe weather, which led to a major incident being declared.

Rebecca Evans, the Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning, said:

"Storm Claudia has had a devastating impact on businesses in Monmouth. This additional funding will provide practical support to help affected businesses recover.

“We are committed to standing with Monmouthshire's business community during this difficult time and we will continue to work closely with Monmouthshire County Council to ensure help reaches those who need it most.”

Last week, initial financial assistance was announced, which included:

  • Grants of £500 and £1,000 for homes affected by flooding
  • Support to cover emergency response costs, like evacuations, food provision, waste removal, and equipment hire
  • Help with discretionary council tax reductions for flooded households
  • Discretionary reductions in non-domestic rates for affected properties

The new funding aims to provide relief and stability to local businesses as they navigate the challenges posed by the storm.
