Gwent Police has confirmed they're investigating a report of a sexual assault, believed to have happened in the area of Parc Penallta on Tuesday 29 July.

The offence reportedly took place in a car at around 3.40am that morning.

The victim, a 39-year-old woman, ran away and on to a road before being taken to an address by members of the public who stopped to help her.

Officers would like to speak to the man and woman, who were driving in the area and helped the victim, as they may have information that could help with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Matt Clarke said:

"Specially-trained officers are currently supporting the victim. We understand that reports of this nature will cause concern for our communities, but officers are carrying out detailed enquiries to establish the circumstances.

“We appreciate that the area of Parc Penallta is quite vast but if you were in the area at the time, or have footage that could assist our investigation, please contact us via our website, call us on 101, or DM us on Facebook or X, quoting log reference 2500241998."
