Residents have been allowed to return to their homes after explosives experts had to deal with a device at a house in Llanelli.

Dyfed-Powys Police said explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) experts were called to an address on New Dock Road, on Wednesday evening, where a device was "made safe".

A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Explosive Substances Act and remains in police custody at this time.

A 100m cordon was put in place for public safety; Trinity Road, Trinity Terrace, Copperworks Road, Marged Street and New Dock Road were all shut and homeowners evacuated.

Officers will remain at the location overnight while enquiries continue.

Chief Inspector, Dominic Jones, said: "I would like to thank the whole community for their support and patience while we dealt with this incident. Local people will see more police in the area over the coming days as enquiries continue."
