A fire has caused significant damage to facilities at Penarth Athletic Club, home of Penarth RFC.
Emergency services responded to the incident early this morning.
The fire was fully extinguished with no reports of injuries among staff or visitors.
An investigation into the cause of the blaze is now underway, with the club working alongside relevant authorities.
The extent of the damage is still being assessed, and efforts are being made to plan recovery work that will minimise disruption to Penarth Rugby Club, Penarth Cricket Club, Penarth Ladies’ Hockey Club, and all who use the facilities.
Co-Club Chairs Gareth Hubback and David Carter thanked the fire service and the community for their support.
“We are tremendously grateful for the swift response of the fire and rescue service and for the support from our local community at this time," they said.
“We will work hard to recover as quickly as possible. In the meantime, we will provide further information as it becomes available.”
