The dispersal order continues in Ystradgynlais Town Centre and Diamond Park this Halloween weekend.

Police can move on anyone causing trouble and take away alcohol until tomorrow evening.

Parents are being reminded to make sure they know where their children are.

In a statement, Ystradgynlais, Ystradfellte, and Pontneddfechan Police confirmed on Thursday: "A dispersal order under Section 35 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 has been authorised for the area which covers Ystradgynlais Town Centre and Diamond Park.

"The order has been put in place to address reports of anti-social behaviour and to help ensure the safety and wellbeing of the community over the Halloween period. The order will commence from 5:00pm on Friday October 31 and remain in place until 5pm on Sunday November 2.

"The order gives uniformed police officers the power to exclude a person from an area for a period of up to 48 hours by the issuing of a written notice. The power is a preventative measure which allows an officer to deal quickly with someone’s behaviour before it escalates. It will also allow officers to confiscate items such as alcohol which could be used in an anti-social manner.

"As Halloween approaches, we recognise that many members of the community will be out enjoying seasonal activities, and we appreciate that the majority of people will do so responsibly and without causing any concern.

"We are asking parents and guardians to make sure you know where your children are and what they’re up to, so everyone can enjoy safe night out. We also ask that parents and guardians to be aware of their children’s whereabouts during the evening, ensuring that young people are safe, supervised and considerate of others.

"Our officers will be present in the local area throughout the evening to provide reassurance and respond to issues that may arise.

"We thank you for your support."
