It'll be in place until 20:30 on Monday 10th March

A dispersal order is now in force around Newport - because of several reports of anti-social behaviour.

We're told it's in effect until 20:30 tomorrow evening including around the Ringland Circle and Milton Court.

This gives police the power to tell people to leave if they're likely to contribute to disorder, alarm, or distress.

We're told the order came into effect at 8.30pm on Saturday 8 March and will remain in place until 8.30pm on Monday 10 March.

The area covered by the dispersal order includes:

  • Ringland Circle from and including outside Ringland 19 Hills health and wellbeing centre to roundabout on Llanwern Rd and Hendre Farm Court
  • Milton Court
  • Hendre farm Court to junction with Cot farm Circle
  • Ringland centre
  • Ringland library
  • Llanwern Rd to junction with Cunningham Road
  • Cot farm circle with junction to Ringland centre

While the dispersal order is in place, it gives officers extra powers to direct groups to leave the area if their behaviour is likely to contribute to disorder or cause harassment, alarm or distress to members of the public.

If they return to that area after being moved on, they face being arrested.

Officers will continue to patrol the area and take action against anyone intent on behaving disorderly or in an anti-social manner.
