Police have made a further four arrests as part of an investigation into alleged illegal foxhunting in the Ambleside area.

Cumbria Constabulary, assisted by Dyfed-Powys Police, made the arrests in the Powys area of Wales yesterday.

Enquiries are continuing following an incident believed to have happened during a meet on Saturday 8th November involving the Coniston Foxhounds and Teme Valley Hunt.

A total of 16 arrests have now been made, including those made yesterday.

Three men and one woman were arrested yesterday on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

They have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Chief Inspector Lee Skelton, of Cumbria Police, said: “Our enquiries remain very much ongoing in this case and robust action continues to be taken.

“I would use this opportunity to once again encourage anyone who has information that may assist us to make contact.”
