Wightlink apologises after ferry sailings cancelled
Issues with engines mean services on one route are out for the rest of Friday (February 21st)
Wightlink has apologised after technical problems led to it cancelling all sailings on one of its routes today (Friday 21st).
The problem, involving two engines on the St Clare ferry, means it cannot run journeys between Portsmouth and Fishbourne.
The service says both engines have developed faults which are believed to have been linked.
The second of its three ferries, St Faith, is operating a shuttle service and is fully booked, while the third, Victoria of Wight, is unable to return to service as it is undergoing annual maintenance work.
A Wightlink spokeswoman said:
"We sincerely apologise for disrupting travel plans for our customers. If your sailing has been cancelled, please do not drive to our ports, which will be very busy.
"We would be grateful if you could cancel or amend your booking online, full refunds will be given free-of-charge.
"Engineers are working to fix the problem, and we hope to bring St Clare back as soon as we can.
"There will be extra sailings between Lymington and Yarmouth overnight.
Customers who need to travel to the Isle of Wight today can use Wightlink's FastCat foot passenger service free of charge and leave their vehicles in Wightlink's Gunwharf Road car park.
