Unauthorised encampment at Itchen Valley Country Park
Up to 50 vehicles have set up on site
Itchen Valley Country Park in Hampshire has been shut to the public for the time being - as an unauthorised encampment's been set up.
Eastleigh Borough Council say as many as 50 vehicles have pitched up there.
Those on site have been issued with a request to leave, with the Council's officers on site and Hampshire Police also being informed.
But it does mean the public facilities there, including the toilets and café have been closed.
In a statement on social media, Eastleigh Borough Council said:
"We're aware of an unauthorised encampment at Itchen Valley Country Park, numbering as many as 50 vehicles.
"As part of our normal procedure, our officers are on site and issuing a request that the encampment leaves the park. We are also liaising with the police.
"Public facilities, including toilets and the café, are currently closed. We are continuing to monitor the situation and will issue updates."
