Coastguard called to stranded whale on Isle of Wight beach

Crews have spent Saturday morning trying to free the whale

Divers and coastguard teams have been called a stranded whale on a beach on the Isle of Wight.

The Maritime & Coastguard Agency confirmed they were called to a pilot whale being stuck on a beach on the west of the island at 6:30am on Saturday.

Crews from the Needles team are also attending, as are British Divers Marine Life Rescue.

Vets are also reportedly heading to the scene to help treat the whale.
