Southampton: Fire on cargo ship carrying scrap metal
Fire crews are cooling the ship's hold with jets of water
A fire has broken out on a cargo ship carrying scrap metal in Southampton docks.
The blaze started in the hold of the bulk carrier Clipper Kythira off Herbert Walker Avenue on Sunday morning.
The hold has been sealed and fire crews are cooling the outside of the ship with jets of water.
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "Exterior scans show temperatures within the hold are coming down.
"Crews remain on scene and continue to cool the exterior of the vessel."
