Council bosses in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole insist they are being "incredibly active" in improving safety over concerns about violent crime across the three towns.
A dedicated team is monitoring levels and is working on early intervention programmes.
Director of communities at BCP Council, Kelly Ansell, said they were stepping up safety patrols,
"There's been a significant amount of investment in additional CCTV and enhanced monitoring, so we now have 24/7 monitoring across BCP.
"It's often understated, but the quality of the images we have through CCTV really help us to detect crime."
The council said ÂŁ600,000 is being spent on recruiting new officers and also providing security patrols, especially during the busy periods in the summer.
