Man charged after pedestrian knocked down by car in Sarisbury Green

A 38-year-old man's suffered potentially life-changing injuries

A man has now now been charged after a man was hit by a car in Sarisbury Green.

Police were called shortly after 03:00am on Thursday 29 May, following a collision on Montefiore Drive involving a pedestrian and a car that did not stop at the scene.

A 38-year-old man was taken to Southampton General Hospital, where he remains, for treatment to serious, potentially life changing, injuries. His condition continues to be described as stable.

James Varol, 24, of Sawpit Rise, Whiteley, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving, failing to report an accident and failing to stop following an accident. He has been remanded to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court today (Wednesday 4 June).

Two 15-year-old boys from Fareham and Hedge End that were arrested yesterday as part of our investigation have been bailed until 2 & 3 September respectivelywhile enquiries continue.

Two 18-year-old men initially arrested as part of the investigation have been released without charge and will face no further action.
