Driver jailed following Totton hit-and-run
A man was seriously injured
A 22-year-old man has been jailed for more than seven years following a hit-and-run incident in Totton in September last year.
Joshua James Wallace of no fixed abode was involved in an incident on Totton High Street around 10.30am on Friday 30 September 2022, when the 55-plate Ford Focus he was driving mounted the kerb and collided with a man before leaving the scene.
The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, suffered serious injuries to his head and ribs.
The court heard how the vehicle used in the hit-and-run incident was located by officers at a junkyard in the Northam area in the process of being scrapped. This came after the vehicle had been sold to another individual by Wallace on the day of the hit-and-run.
Officers arested Wallace in the early hours the following day on Saturday 1 October. He pleaded guilty to Section 18 – causing grievous bodily harm with intent at a hearing at Southampton Crown Court on Thursday 19 January 2023.
Appearing at Southampton Crown Court on Wednesday 26 April for sentencing, Wallace was jailed for seven years and six months and ordered to serve an additional 3 years and six months on extended licence.
