CCTV appeal after woman punched in the face by man in Southampton

A woman's been punched in the face by an unknown man in Southampton.

Police received a report that at around 2:00am on Friday 26 September, a 19-year-old woman was walking along Commercial Road, at the junction with Above Bar Street, when a man she did not know punched her in the face.

The man then left the scene and the woman was helped by a nearby security guard.

The woman sustained a black eye from the assault.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said:

"Officers have been conducting a number of enquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage from the area, and have identified a man they would like to speak to who may be able to provide more information.

"If this is you, if you recognise this man, or if you have any information which could assist our investigation, please report to us by calling 101 quoting reference 44250443927."
