Bird flu has been confirmed in the Test Valley area, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has said.

A three-kilometre captive bird (monitoring) controlled zone has been declared around premises near Stockbridge, Test Valley, to prevent further spread of the Avian flu.

As a result, special measures have been imposed, including recording all visitors, poultry, and eggs entering or leaving the site.

Defra indicated that the owners should immediately report any increase in morbidity or mortality, or any significant drop in egg production.

Owners within the controlled zone should keep poultry isolated and take measures to minimise contact with wild birds.

Keepers must report any signs of avian influenza in captive birds immediately by calling 03000 200 301.
