Arrest after man chased by knife-wielding man in Southampton

Police were called to the city centre on Friday morning

Police are looking to speak to a man who was reportedly chased by another man with a knife along a road in Southampton city centre.

Officers are investigating reports that the chase took place along Above Bar Street, between the junction of Regent Street and Pound Tree Road, between 9.10am and 9.20am on Friday (April 28th).

A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray, possessing an offensive weapon and receiving stolen goods.

Hampshire Police said he remained in custody as of Saturday morning.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are looking to identify the man who was reportedly chased.

He was described as being white, aged between 40 to 50-years-old.
