Three teenagers have been arrested after a 16 year old boy was stabbed in the stomach in Portsmouth.

It happened last night near the McDonalds on Portsmouth Road in Cosham.

Three boys, aged 17 and 16, are currently being questioned on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: "We’re appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 16 year-old boy was seriously assaulted in Cosham yesterday evening (Thursday 21 March).

"We were called just before 7pm to Portsmouth Road in Cosham after the boy was assaulted. He was treated at hospital for small stab wounds to his arm, stomach and thigh. He remains in hospital and his condition is described as stable.

"Three people were seen to leave the scene near McDonalds in a car.

"Three teenage boys, two aged 16 and one aged 17 all from Portsmouth, were subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

"They remain in custody at this time.
