Wolverhampton pride 2025 is expected to be the biggest yet
The city streets will be lined with celebrations from a parade and family picnic to a huge street party
The heart of the Wolverhampton will pulse with colour, music, and unity this Saturday as Wolverhampton Pride 2025 takes over Market Square for its biggest celebration yet. Running from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on the 7th June, the event promises an unforgettable day of performances, parades, and pride.
Headlining the festivities is pop sensation and Pussycat Dolls star, Kimberly Wyatt, bringing her dynamic performance to the main stage. Joining her are the dazzling drag vocal group Queenz, known for their high-energy shows and glamorous costumes. Fans can also look forward to a Taylor Swift tribute by Lauren G, a performance by Wolverhampton's own trans rapper Nate Ethan, soulful tunes from singer-songwriter Kyle Finn, and a preview of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert by the Bilston Operatic Company.
The Pride Parade kicks off the day's events, starting on Victoria Street and weaving through the city centre. Last year, the parade saw 700 participants, and this year aims to surpass that number, inviting individuals, families, and organizations to march in support of LGBTQ+ rights and visibility.
Councillor Chris Burden said: "Pride in Wolverhampton brings so much life back to the city from the Pride Picnic on Sunday to the celebration on Pride Plaza on the Saturday and also the parade all the way through the city centre, which fulfils that sort of protest, celebration, elements of pride.
"Local pride is where you see that real pride in the community and that real sense that we're doing something together. It's a real community of people that just don't have this day-to-day celebration. In the big cities, you see that support all the time. But in Wolverhampton, these events really make a difference to people feeling welcome and part of the community. I think that's really, really important.
"Come into town, come and see what's going on. Feel the celebration. See the life that's brought into the city by these events and the contributions that this community bring to the city. That's what we do at Wolverhampton Pride. It's a proper, inclusive community family event.
"Local performers, local drag, local people in that parade, and I think that's what it's all about. That's why you should come into Wolverhampton because it doesn't look like these cookie cutter events you might see in other parts of the country. This is a real product of Wolverhampton."
