The animals at West Midlands Safari Park are set to receive Christmas presents this year as part of the celebrations.

Visitors and keepers have been designing animal enrichment items for them all to enjoy, along with the usual stockings and bauble feeders they get.

One of the designs is made from recycled toilet rolls that staff had collected, with guests cutting them up and assembling them into a 3D star shape.

Amy Sewell is one of the keepers at the park and she says it's always great seeing the animals enjoy Christmas.

"We're all away from our families on Christmas Day so it's really nice to have that family feeling still with the animals and the rest of the keepers," she said.

"What we decided would be really good this year was to get the guests involved a little bit, so we've been getting them to make enrichment themselves, things like making feeders out of toilet roll tubes, and as keepers we can put food into them and give it to them on the day.

"Our animals are super important to us as keepers, so getting them involved with Christmas, even if they don't really understand it's Christmas, is really important to us and really good we can make it as special as possible for them."
