'Extensive damage' after Oswestry shop crashed into by car

'Under one Roof' has been completely bordered up

A shop owner in Oswestry has told us they have suffered 'extensive damage' after a car crashed into their store.

'Under one Roof' on Beatrice Street was struck by a grey VW Tiguan on Sunday (27th Apr) at around 11pm.

"It does not just affect us, but our artists who sell her as well"

The shop sells crafts from a number of different vendors in Shropshire, which have now suffered 'extensive damage'.

Owner Thomas Shotton told us the damage has forced him to close his shop: "The full front of the store has been boarded up to make the building secure.

"75% of my stock has been damaged from the impact and flying objects which is devestating.

"It does not just affect us, but our artists who sell here as well. We are just thankful no one was hurt," he said.

West Mercia Police said that they are looking for the two occupants of the car, with a registration ending in 'AYC'.

The pair fled the scene after the incident. The force said they are looking through CCTV footage and are making forensic examinations.

"We sympathise with the owners and those that work there and are doing everything possible to identify and prosecute the individuals responsible," said a spokesperson from West Mercia Police.
