A Wolverhampton man has been found guilty of conspiring to commit GBH after a machete attack in the city.

21-year-old Jassdeep Singh appeared before Crown Court on Wednesday - after a 19-year-old, Faisal Hussain, from Handsworth, previously pleaded guilty to the same offence.

Police say a man suffered life changing injuries in the incident back in February.

In a statement, officers at the West Midlands force said: "A man has been found guilty of conspiring to commit grievous bodily harm (GBH) after an attack with machetes in Wolverhampton earlier this year.

"Jassdeep Singh, 21, was found guilty on Wednesday (27 August) following a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

"His conviction comes after Faisal Hussain, 19, previously pleaded guilty to the same offence.

"The conviction and guilty plea come after a man was attacked with machetes in Barcroft Road, Wolverhampton, at around 4.30pm on 13 February this year, and suffered life changing injuries.

"An investigation was immediately launched and officers carried out CCTV enquiries to identify those involved and arrested Singh, and Hussain, later that month.

"Singh, of Ingestre Road, Wolverhampton, and Hussain, of Goldhill Road, Handsworth, were remanded in custody ahead of their sentencing on a date to be confirmed."

'No justification for such extreme violence'

Detective Constable, Leah Povey, said: "This was a horrific attack in broad daylight.

"There's no justification for such extreme violence and these two men will rightly be spending time behind bars for their actions."
